The European Youth Parliament is one of the most transformative non-formal educational projects your students can experience.
The European Youth Parliament (EYP) is an educational platform for independent thinking and initiative in young people and facilitates the learning of social and professional skills, like teamwork, tolerance and problem-solving, as well as communication and leadership skills.
Since it was founded in 1987, hundreds of thousands of young people have taken part in regional, national and international sessions, formed friendships and made international contacts across borders. The EYP has made a vital contribution towards active citizenship among young students across Europe, bridging gaps between cultures and helping young people develop themselves through informal education.
Competencies rather than Competition
The EYP is focused on competency development, rather than being another debating competition. The focus at a conference therefore lays not in the current level of skill of participants, but on how they wish to develop as well as how that could be facilitated.
Empowerment and Cultural Understanding
As a result of our events, more than 90% of participants indicate an increased willingness to actively get involved in their society in the form of active citizenship as well as having increased intercultural understanding and gained international friendships.
